Dawn is a true St. Louis girl born and raised.
Early on she knew that music and singing would play an important part in her life. Dawn says her mother mother has always been an inspiration to her and thanks her for introducing her to the great songs of the 40s and 50s, and for cultivating in her a love of music. Dawn has never had a voice lesson and attributes her gift to God and good genes. She often tells people that her family should have had a group act, because "everyone of us can sing well." After graduating from the Visual and Performing Arts High School, Dawn attended Lindenwood College majoring in Performing Arts. She later received her Bachelors Degree in Business/Communications from Tarkio College. Her love of stage, theatre, and music continued as she performed her first professional role as Liat in South Pacific at the Good times Dinner Theatre in Fairview Heights Illinois. In 1986, Dawn won the title of Miss St. Louis and was in the top ten at the Miss Missouri Pageant.
From the age of 18, Dawn began performing with local bands for wedding receptions. During the early nineties, Dawn was part of a featured duo called Brian and Dawn at the infamous Al Bakers Restaurant in Clayton. From there she and Brian met a lot of people and began performing at some of the most prestigious restaurants, country clubs, and organizations in St. Louis. She and Brian even sang for the annual KMOX Radio Christmas show broadcast from Jack Bucks home.
Dawn is the lead female singer of the band Arvell and Company perhaps the finest and most versatile band in St. Louis. Dawn says, I have never been with a more talented group of musicians and singers than this ensemble. I know it may sound Cliche but they are like family to me, and I truly love them all.
Dawn can take you from show tunes, jazz standards, pop, and top forty with the ease of a pro. Her wide vocal range and variety have made her one of the most versatile female singers in the St. Louis area. She is often called to sing the National Anthem for the St. Louis Blues Hockey Organization. She still has a great love of theatre and has shared the stage many times with her children.
If you need a whole band, or just a small ensemble such as a duo, trio, or quartet, Dawn can provide you with just the right size group for virtually any type of occasion. Whether it is a wedding ceremony, wedding reception, corporate party, small combo for cocktail music, she has done it all.
